13 Mar 2014 PNW Migration Update

Light winds, from the south as a small trough enters the area, and clear skies.  Perfect night to head north!

A pretty strong flight with returns up to 20 dBZ to our north.  Looking closely at the Reflectivity loop; just at the end of the loop there is a small pocket of birds headed back to the Sauvie Island area – coming from the north.  Possibly an aborted trip or, “hey, lets turn around and put down back there. It looked like a nice place.”?

Anyway here are the loops from RTX last night.  Note: the loops are a little long and start out with the tail end of last night’s flight.

And finally here is Paul’s archived National Composite – it’s a bit glitchey this morning but you can see that the PNW is the hot spot last night.
