11 September 2013 Migration Report

A curiously light migration last night.  An upper level high pressure system (see Jet Stream image) pushed winds out of the east and that may have discouraged flight.  Perhaps the birds are enjoying the weather, and the bugs it’s bringing, and they decided to hang around for a while.  Whatever the case there were relatively few birds in nocturnal flight last night.

Forecast for the next couple of days remains the same:  favorable winds and skies conducive to migration.  Beyond that it gets a bit dicey.
