Moderate levels of migration last night with a conspicuous lack of coastal movement.
Weather conditions continue to favor sustained flight and looks to be the same throughout the week. NW winds at moderate levels will aid south bound migrants. Perhaps the westerly component is what kept birds off the coast? If so, that should push them inland.
In the Portland area the first of the winter sparrows have arrived: Golden-crowned and Lincoln’s were out on Sauvie Island this weekend.
