PNW Migration Update – 18 April 2013

I don’t have anything to add to the Breaking News post below for our area except to add some more images and loops from last night.

Nationally there is a large storm front stretching from Michigan to Louisiana that is impacting migration.  Out in front of it are favorable south winds that migrants are utilizing along the Atlantic Flyway.  And behind it are stiff north winds shutting down the Central and  Mississippi Flyways.  Of note is the heavy movement of birds in the Central Valley southward in California.  Things are heating up and birds are headed our way.

Always in the Weather sidebar is Paul Hurtado’s radar archive.  It’s worth a peak for a dynamic display of the night’s events.
