PNW Migration Update – 09 April 2013

The high pressure ridge proved to be an effective barrier to the low we’ve been watching and it has passed over us to the north.  That brought transitional weather and calm conditions for another night of migration.  There were even a few pockets of returns in the 20-25 dBz range.  Not bad!

The next major low is still 72 hrs out so we may get another night of decent movement.  There are really no strong winds associated with the ridge:trough interaction in our area at this time so movement will be leisurely and will continue apace.  Another day worth poking around to look for new arrivals and stop overs.

Nationally it looked the same as last night.  Storms in the northern reaches of the country stopped migration from advancing.  But below that the birds were on the move and filling in the gaps.
