PNW Migration Update – 01 April 2013

I took a few days off to enjoy the unseasonable weather before it turns.

But, the birds didn’t!  They are moving in droves.  You can see it in the field.  Duck numbers are way down and reports of newly arrived migrants can be found in the various bird forums for Oregon.

Below are the Reflectivity loops, and one Velocity loop, for the past three days. Each building in intensity, with last night seeing returns in the 25 dBz range.  Migration is in full swing.  I put in a National Composite best demonstrating widespread movement in all of the flyways.  There’s some weather disruptions here and there but where there is the opportunity, the birds are on the move.
