PNW Migration Update – 25 March 2013

Another night of solid avian movement.  Even with a bit of rain the birds are headed north.

It was a very calm night last night with little wind but the sprinkles here and there kept the radar in Precipitation mode which shifts the returns a bit higher as the sweep moves at a steeper angle.  Even still, looking at both the Reflectivity and Velocity loops we can see the pattern of migration was widespread and uniformly dense.

A weak low pressure system is just off shore and will have southerly flows ahead of it.  Depending on timing, the birds will definitely take advantage of those winds if they are able.
