Last week there were a couple of decent flights between weather systems. Monday night the 18th and Friday the 22nd. The density was still pretty low except in pockets of birds heading north. (Loops in the gallery)
But last night was the first really solid night of migration. Still not at peak levels but we had widespread returns in the 20 dBz range. (Loops in the gallery.)
The first wave of neo-tropical migrants hit the shores of N America on 23 March. Documented by Badbirdz – Reloaded here. (Be patient it’s a big file.) It’s always a thrill to see these returns out over the Caribbean make landfall.
