There were scattered rains to our north last night so that kept the birds from leaving early on. But, to our south was clear air and a decent early season flight can be seen coming into the area.
As the rains passed in the middle of the night you can see birds taking flight from our area and heading to the north. The Velocity loop clearly shows South to North directionality.
There is a ridge of high pressure pushing into our area from the south and should bring some SW winds as it passes. The winds last night were moderate out of the WSW.
The densities are still quite low but that flight from the south got up into the 20 dBz range. That’s quite good – there should be some new birds in town.
