Mon 26 Mar 2012 – PNW Migration Update

Migration locally?  Really hard to tell because the radar was in precipitation mode most of the night and any targets were obscured by clouds.  There were a few windows to look through and one velocity plot shows birds flying into the upper Willamette valley last night.

The low pressure system sitting off the coast of California shifted just a bit further south bring the easterlies aloft across northern Oregon as can be seen on the 850mb plot.

Nationally very little has changed from yesterday as can be seen on the national reflectivity composite.  The central and Mississippi flyways are seeing light but significant movement. The eastern flyways have been shut down as strong westerly winds across the southeast and local precipitation are conditions that can be waited out.
