Rain, rain, rain. All of western Oregon is seeing precipitation. It’s a good bet that we wont be seeing any new migrants until this lets up, and i don’t see that happening in the near future. The series of low pressure cells are very well organized and don’t show any sings of abating.
Oh well. But, birds are on the move in other parts of the country. We are seeing birds move as opportunists; taking advantage of any southerly winds and avoiding any cross or headwinds. From Texas to New York birds are using the SSW winds that are reaching 35 knots at 5000 ft. You can quite clearly see the match of the migration pattern and wind pattern.
